Spring - Get to Know the Bay
The goal of this program is to get the kids acclimated
to the water through a series of after school activities including
Water Acclimation and Safety, Boating/Safety Basics, and
Maritime History.
Schedule: After School Program
Curriculum: Classroom, field trips and water activities
Summer - Learn to Sail
Big Sailor/Little Sailor: This program's primary focus is on
Learn to Sail. The program runs for 7 weeks for 2 full days of instruction each
week.
In additon
to learning basic sailing, the kids are participate in fishing expeditions, kayaking,
canoeing, crabbing, swimming and other fun maritime activities. The idea is to
teach the students an appreciation for the Chesapeake Bay and all it has to offer
to the community.
Curriculum: Beginning sailing instructions, small and big boats.
Big Sailor/Little Sailor - adopt a kid concept, focus on community, awareness
of the environment, nurturing, marine opportunities, and boating appreciation.

Fall - Continuing Education
Our main gol in the Fall program is on continuing education and
confidence building skills.
Schedule: After school program and weekends September to November
Curriculum: Support growth of future programs
by providing our own fleet, boat building through the construction
of asmall dingy and repair of
donated boats for resale or program use.
Field trips
We also take a number of field trips witht he kids throughout
the year including trips to sail lofts, museums, and crewing
onboard sailboats during the Wednesday Night and
Fall Sailing Series. |
